We are fully committed to being an inclusive school and ensure we make suitable adjustments for a child with a disability (see SEN report and Accessibility Plan).

Starting school in EYFS - Reception Class

Open days are held at Woodgate Primary Academy in the Autumn term to allow prospective parents to visit the school and gain a good understanding of the provision we offer. 2025 intake dates are yet to be confirmed.

Please call the school office to book 01444 461329 or email office@woodgateprimary.school. Arrival is 5 minutes before session time.

Places are allocated by West Sussex Admissions according to the following priorities:

1.    Those with a significant social, emotional, medical or behavioural need
2.    Children living within the designated area of the school with siblings

3.    Children living within the designated area without siblings

4.    Those with a brother or sister currently attending the school who do not live within the designated area

5.    Those living nearest to the school

Further information is available via https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/education-children-and-families/schools-and-colleges/school-places/guidance/contact-pupil-admissions/

If you have successfully secured a place at the school for your child, you and your child will be invited into the school during the half term before they start.  You and your child will have the opportunity to meet the other children and their parents as well as the teachers and teaching assistants. This is a good opportunity to find out more about your child's experience at school and find answers to all of your questions.

In addition, the teaching staff will make home visits to find out directly from you vital information that will ensure a smooth transition into school. A visit will also be made to the pre-school settings to get to know the children before they join us.

In September, children may start school at the beginning of the school year in which they become five.  All children will be offered a full time place from the outset. However, parents of pupils not yet five have the option to send their children for the mornings only during the autumn term if they consider this to be best for the individual.
