Woodgate Primary School

"Working together to be our best"

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

We are fully committed to being an inclusive school and ensure we make suitable adjustments for a child with a disability (see SEN report and Accessibility Plan).

Please call the Office if you are interested in a place for your child at this school.  We welcome visits at any time of year when you can meet the Headteacher and see the school at work.  We also hold regular Open Days, please call for further information.

Starting school in EYFS

Open days are held at Woodgate Primary School in the Autumn term to allow prospective parents to visit the school and gain a good understanding of the provision we offer.

Places are allocated according to the following priorities:

1.    Those with a significant social, emotional, medical or behavioural need
2.    Children living within the designated area of the school with siblings

3.    Children living within the designated area without siblings

4.    Those with a brother or sister currently attending the school who do not live within the designated area

5.    Those living nearest to the school

If you have successfully secured a place at the school for your child, you and your child will be invited into the school during the half term before they start.  You and your child will have the opportunity to meet the other children and their parents as well as the teachers and teaching assistants. This is a good opportunity to find out more about your child's experience at school and find answers to all of your questions.

In addition, the teaching staff will make home visits to find out directly from you vital information that will ensure a smooth transition into school. A visit will also be made to the pre-school settings to get to know the children before they join us.

In September, children may start school at the beginning of the school year in which they become five.  All children will be offered a full time place from the outset. However, parents of pupils not yet five have the option to send their children for the mornings only during the autumn term if they consider this to be best for the individual.

Transferring your child to the school

Parents moving into the designated area or otherwise wishing to transfer their child to the school should contact the Admissions Team, the telephone number of which is given below. We are happy to welcome pupils transferring from another school for a pre-start visit. Please ring the office to make arrangements.

Further details and advice on admission are available in the West Sussex County Council booklet “Information for Parents” or from the Pupil Admissions Office at County Hall North, Chart Way, Horsham, West Sussex RH12 1XA (tel. 01403 229106).
