"Working together to be our best"

Visions and Values

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. The school community have worked hard this year to update our visions and values.

Our Mission Statement

Woodgate Primary Academy and Nursery aims to inspire, challenge and nurture the individuality of all our pupils. We aim to prepare pupils for all stages of their education as well as equip them with high aspirations for their future lifelong learning.

Our Vision

Woodgate Primary Academy and Nursery aims to be an excellent school and nursery serving the local community. We have high learning and behaviour expectations and aim to ensure every child will realise their full potential through their participation in a broad and balance curriculum. Every child will have a voice: they will be able to articulate their thinking and opinions, and will be provided with stimulating learning opportunities to develop this.

As a school and nursery grow, we will maintain our nurturing environment supporting the well-being of the whole school community. We will encourage challenge and resilience and build confident, ambitious, independent and happy learners. Through our work with Rights Respecting Schools we embrace diversity and respect as an integral part of our community.

Our success will be achieved through collaborative effort including; working with external partners, staff, governors, parents and the children themselves within a culture of honesty, openness and trust.

Promoting Fundamental British Values

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law. To support and further develop our understanding we will be working towards becoming a Rights Respecting School.

The Key Values are:

  • democracy
  • rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

Our School Aims

School Aims

To be a learning community that enables everyone to be and to do the very best they can.

To create a caring, family atmosphere that allows this to happen.

We will do this by:

♦  building a community and an environment where children feel cared for, safe and happy.

♦  working in close partnership with children and home, recognising that education is a shared responsibility.

♦  challenging, supporting and motivating the children to become skilled, imaginative, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and independent learners.

♦  developing the life skills that will help them become confident individuals, successful learners and responsible citizens.

♦  respecting individuality and diversity.

It is our overall aim that our pupils leave us prepared and able to meet the challenges of their life ahead.
