"Working together to be our best"

Welcome

Woodgate Primary Academy

Welcome to Woodgate Primary Academy

We are a small school situated in a beautiful location adjacent to Tilgate Forest on the edge of Pease Pottage village. We were formerly known as Warninglid Primary, but relocated to our new site in August 2021 and now occupy a stunning new school building in the Woodgate development at Pease Pottage.

We currently have approximately 106 children on roll, in five classes, from Reception to Year 6 as well as a nursery accommodating 20 children per session. Our classes are relatively small which is great for learning and we occasionally have spaces in our year groups, so if you are thinking of changing your child's school or you are looking for your child's first school, then please give us a call. We accept children from out of catchment as well as from our local area.

In May 2017, Warninglid Primary school was judged as 'Good' by Ofsted and the team continue to work hard to build on this success and further improve the school at our new site in Woodgate.

Over the last few years the school has made considerable progress towards strengthening the school in the following ways:

  • Staff training has focused on developing high expectations, challenge, improved questioning and assessment for learning. This is having a marked effect on the quality of teaching and learning.

  • Through the development of our school vision and the identification of key values, our children are developing important skills for learning such as resilience, creativity, and collaboration.

  • Children are much more motivated and are happy learners, who are now more prepared to engage in challenging activities.

  • Enjoyment of school has been raised by the implementation of initiatives such as Forest Schools and the further development of the curriculum to make it more engaging.

  • Pupil involvement has been revived through the introduction of  play leaders and half termly committee meeting for eco-council, digital leaders, Rights respecting Schools/School Council and Play leaders.

  • Parents and volunteers are actively involved and support the school in a variety of different ways.

  • The school successfully achieved a Silver Rights Respecting School Award in June 2019. Through this award the children have gained a deeper understanding of their rights and how these apply to all children across the world. It has led to our involvement with the local, national and global issues. The children have also developed our school charter to link to their rights and this has been used to reinforce our behaviour expectations.

  • We are currently working with an English Hub school in Southampton to improve  Early Reading skills and phonics teaching.

This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and pupils. We have high expectations for our whole community, we believe in "learning together to be our best".
