"Working together to be our best"

PSHE

Coming Soon......

We are currently reviewing our PHSE curriculum.

We are intending to work from the my Happy Mind programme supported by the school's PTA.

Please see the the web link for more information https://myhappymind.org/

Our school rules and school values are very important.  We start of each year by learning about the rules and values in our school.  We give the children a good transition to their new year group through visits, photo books and sharing staff profiles.

We support children in school with their personal development in many different ways

To help with emotional regulation in the Early Years (Nursery and Reception) we we the Colour Monster Book.

The children learning to understand and identify a range of emotions linked to the different monsters.

In year 1 and above the children begin to use the Zones of Regulation to identify their emotions and begin to find strategies and tool to help them get back to the "green zone".

They are taught all emotions are o.k and normal.

Children are also taught that: some emotions can be "expected" or "unexpected" and that some emotions can make us feel "comfortable" or "uncomfortable".

Children begin to learn how their emotions affect them-self and others around them.

We have a range of provision which supports children across the school

Forest School - Reception children have a session every week. Each class has a turn at forest school across the year.  We run a forest school nurture group, by invite, for those children who may need some extra support.

Sensory Circuits - Children who require more time to regulate when they get to school or those children who are developing their coordination skills may be invited to Sensory Circuits, this runs every morning.

ELSA - We have a full time Emotional Literacy, Support Assistant working in our school.  Her name is Mrs Quy.  She helps children across the school with emotional needs.

Calm Zone -Every class has a Calm Corner where children can have some quiet time.  We also have a central Calm Zone with sensory items for children who may need more support.

Assemblies - Our assemblies focus on key issues in school and cover a range of themes that are local, national and world wide.

School Trips and Visitors, After School Clubs and Enrichment Days - Help to develop children's experiences and develop resilience ready for the wider world.  See our newsletter for the latest photographs and information.

We Are a Therapeutic Thinking School - Whilst we have a robust behaviour policy we underpin this with a therapeutic approach.  We understand that children need time to learn about social rules and appropriate behaviours.  Some children may take longer than others to learn these, just as some children to take longer to pick up, for example, maths skills.  If a child is struggling to follow the rules we support with learning opportunities.

We Use Restorative Conversation - to support conversations following an incident we use restorative conversations.  This to help children feel listened to and find out more information and to help children repair situations.
